Working on-air in radio for 7 years I got to meet world famous hip-hop artists, interview rappers, hang out back stage with rockstars, drink champagne on tour buses…

That job also taught me a lot of things, one being that famous people are just regular people.  Sure, the job helped in providing access, But know what helped the most in meeting cool people? Not expecting anything from them.

Just had a new referral. When chatting with the lead on Zoom, something they said made me wonder who they were.  Googled them and sure enough, they have some notoriety.

SEO referrals

  • 1,000,000+ followers.
  • Big platform. History of accomplishments.

And that didn’t change anything for me. If anything, it made me want to chill more.

The more you respect accomplished people as a regular person, the more you earn their trust.

They were kind as could be on the phone. Respectful. Asked questions. Patient.

Famous people.  Successful people.  Could you imagine having people up your ass 24/7. How many “yes men” they deal with daily?  They want the truth. They want real people.

And how do you think you get these caliber of referrals? Same thing… trust.  People have to be willing to put their name behind yours.

Marketing gets you in the front door. Relationships get you through the back door.
