Last night, Hottie and I went to see a psychic medium, and you won’t believe any of what she told me.
Her name is Jo’Anne Smith, and Aleah has seen her several times. Aleah’s shared crazy things she witnessed at the event, and every time I’m looking for the holes to poke in the story.
The way Jo’Anne works doesn’t make any sense. I’ve gone with her twice now, and the specificity, without any prompting, makes no logical sense.
We were in a room of around 50 people. She starts walking around “picking up” on little things. Energy. Signals.
First thing she starts piecing together words about was “Someone is loud, doing this…” and motioned like pounding drums.
Over the course of 5-10 minutes, she went on to tell a lady in the front row it was her son, and he wasn’t meant to leave. He wishes he didn’t get into somethings he did, as if it were an overdose. And the mother confirmed all of it.
She asked about a feather, and the mom had a feather tattoo in memory of him as well.
At one point, she asked the room if green onions and the name Tyler meant anything to anyone. It ended up connecting to a guy’s cousin who passed mysteriously.
Jo’Anne said how there was a lot of mystery around his death, and things unanswered. The guy agreed.
She then said it wasn’t a suicide, and asked if there were suspicions of murder. He confirmed.
And the onions? His wife right next to him is Japanese, and her family owns vegetable farms that her grandma had built through hard work. And her grandma passed.
Jo’Anne went on to describe the inside of the lady’s house with Buddha’s and green jade everywhere. And “she shuffles like this?” And did a short foot shuffle, and the lady confirmed that’s how her grandma walked, and that her grandma built the farm and legacy.
There were stories of people coming back to thank her from past shows. One was a family that was looking for a family heirloom ring. Jo’Anne said the spirit said it was in a bedroom vanity, fifth drawer down, under a rose.
They found it that night after the previous event… in a bedroom vanity, fifth drawer down, under a plaque. When they flipped the plaque over, it had a rose engraving… and there was the ring.
Still looking for holes in how this can work, prompting to get the audience to say the thing first. But there’s none of it.
Then it happens to me and Aleah.
Jo’Anne mentioned driving through Evanston, which immediately caught my attention because I had just driven through Evanston coming back from the cabin. But I didn’t say anything because she was focused on other people, and I didn’t want to interrupt.
But nobody confirmed anything with Evanston.
Toward the very end of the night, she came to Aleah and I and said there was something with an American flag draped over a casket. Aleah started crying.
Another guy in the room also connected with that, so Jo’Anne focused on him for a minute. But because Aleah had such a quick emotional reaction, Jo’Anne came back to her.
Then she looked at Aleah, looked at me, looked back at Aleah, and said, “Is there something to do with Idaho?”
Aleah said no, but I look at Aleah and said, “Yeah! The cabin.” Then Aleah lit up.
I told Jo’Anne we own a property up there that we had just finished. Then Jo’Anne said, “You have spirits up there. Lots of spirits. Good spirits.”
Then she asked if there was a male father figure. That connected with Aleah’s dad. Then she said he wanted to introduce a young girl. Aleah started crying again because that was her sister.
Jo’Anne asked what the letter A meant. Aleah’s sister’s name is Ashlie.
Jo’Anne said Aleah’s dad was with her sister, and that Ashlie was okay.
She mentioned something with stomach pain, and an argument before she passed. Ashlie passed from kidney failure from septic shock, and there had been a moment Aleah’s brother “stole Ashlie’s nose,” like the thumb trick. And Ashlie, with disabilities, thought it was real and she was mad.
Her brother said he’d give her nose back when she came back home. She never came back home, and he felt bad she left frustrated. Jo’Anne said he can let it go, and it’s okay now.
She also said Ashlie suffered for a long time, and was better now. She did. She was born with spina bifida, and was told she’d live only a short life. She lived to be 24.
Then Jo’Anne asked if Aleah sees a lot of butterflies. That hit hard because Aleah and her mom see butterflies all the time, and it has become a big thing between them.
Jo’Anne also said Ashlie wanted us to plant sunflowers up there. Aleah’s sister and mom have always been big into sunflowers.
Then she mentioned “wishes on the ground,” like blowing dandelions. That connected to our daughter, because every time she sees dandelions she blows them. Jo’Anne said Ashlie is with our daughter when she does that.
Then she asked, “What’s with three kids?”
Aleah and I have three kids.
She’d bounce between specifics of Aleah’s sister, and back to the Idaho property.
She asked if we had a big deck. We do. A big upper deck at the cabin.
She said there were already a lot of spirits up there, especially on the deck, and that there was something sacred about the place.
That part was crazy because on the way to the event, I had just been telling Aleah how I stayed at the cabin last weekend by myself and it was a bit overwhelming. Not in a scary way, but in a “there’s something there” kind of way.
Jo’Anne kept saying we “you were meant to have that property.” Then said “you got that property under really unique circumstances, huh? You had to work for it?”
Yes. There’s a whole long story behind how we ended up with it, abbreviated here.
Random connections and messages with the family we ended up buying it from. Long plays. Getting it off market.
Then discovering our neighboring lot and the new lot used to be one. It was split in the 70’s and the north lot we first bought changed ownership a few times. The south lot stayed in the family.
They’re both now under one family again.
After the event we were outside and Aleah saw Jo’Anne and went to thank her. We ended up talking more and Jo’Anne brought up Native American/Indian energy connected to the cabin, like something with a reservation or sacred land. We’ve since found out the area our property is was a regular visit for Native Americans.
That also hit because Aleah’s dad is Native American, and his ashes are also spread on tribal land.
Then she brought up the front door at the cabin. She said there was something unique or special about it, and that Ashlie loves it. And there is. We don’t have a “front door.” We have a giant double glass sliding door facing the lake.
Then she turned toward me and said I have siblings, huh?
Yes.
I told her I’m the oldest of many. But she said, “No, there’s something else with siblings. Like a division.” Which is true, there’s some unfortunate disconnects in some of the relationships from disagreements over the years.
Then she got excited and said, “You should bring a drum to the cabin.”
What? I have never owned any form of drum, and had just bought and brought a handpan to the cabin the previous weekend.
At the end of the night of doing a bunch of maintenance stuff, wanted to just chill and clumsily play the handpan.
That’s this video. 👀
Short clip I sent my coach that I was tinkering around with the drum.
I mentioned that I’ve been leaning more into energy and had finally hired a coach. Before I could fully explain it, Jo’Anne said, “He’s like a business life coach, huh? He understands business, but you talk about personal stuff.”
Yes. Exactly my coach, and exactly why I hired him.
A business coach, but not to talk business. Just someone that would understand the mindset of an entrepreneur to then talk personal stuff.
Then, because I mentioned being an entrepreneur, she said, “You have five businesses, huh?” And when I counted them out, it was basically right…
- my main agency, SEO National
- Certified SEO, my training entity
- our local DBA, Utah Marketers
- the lake real estate rental entity
- the commercial building real estate entity
She also said there was someone in business I didn’t trust, and that I was justified in not trusting him.
There’s someone that I thought was a friend that is not being gracious in respecting personal brand equity and encroaching on Outrank’s trademark. She said I was justified in not trusting them.
Then she basically looked me up and down, winked, and said “You’ll be successful.”
The whole thing was a lot, wild, and entirely accurate.
Jo’Anne brought up Idaho, Bear Lake, Evanston, the cabin, the deck, the front door, sunflowers, butterflies, dandelions, drums, the handpan, Aleah’s dad, Ashlie, the hospital argument, Native American energy, siblings, businesses, my coach, and people taking advantage of you.
With zero prompting.
But the part that mattered most to Aleah was hearing that her dad and sister are together, that Ashlie is okay, and that they’re with us at the cabin.
Apparently, they like it there. And “many others.”
Guess us “feeling something” up there, maybe we’re not crazy after all.
