There is going to be an astronomical business opportunity for professionals in upcoming years to clean up AI created messes.  Because the amount of people migrating blindly to AI-built websites because it’s “easy and cheap” is just getting started.

I get it for solopreneurs, freelancers, etc. Where money matters more than time.  But established businesses distracted by shiny object AI website designs, migrating because their neighbor’s son’s best friend’s dog told them to is wild.

There will continue to be a wave of people that migrate looking to save time and money, only to be hit with a brutal reality that AI/fast/easy/cheap ≠ good.

A camera on your phone doesn’t make you a professional photographer.

Yes, you built it in an hour.  That’s cool. I agree.

But then it takes you multiple hours to maintain or modify because there’s no proper CMS.

Don’t know what a CMS is? That stands for Content Management System. It’s the backend to build and scale your website.

Yes, a CMS-based site takes longer to set up… so it’s easier to manage.  AI built sites are the opposite. Easy to set up, more involved to manage.

Not to mention optimization and marketing.

“But I told AI to be the best of the best and use the best, bestest, best of best.”

Sure.  Straight to average you get, because that’s what AI is.  A consensus.

AI is built to regress… to move to average over time.

I get sent websites daily, asking to audit them to see if AI really did a good job. Almost never does.

It’s so bad that I realized I should build a case study. So I am, and will audit thousands of websites over the upcoming weeks to paint a picture. Post for another day…

Obviously, there’s a difference between good and bad AI websites. But the barrier to entry is so low that the volume of trash is higher than ever.

Let’s not forget about liabilities either.  What could possibly go wrong turning your website over to AI if you’re in:

  • Legal
  • Insurance
  • Medical Devices
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Higher Education
  • Mortgage & Lending
  • Dietary Supplements
  • Banking & Credit Unions
  • Investment & Securities
  • Debt Collection & Relief
  • Vocational & Trade Schools
  • Online Certification Programs
  • Hospitals & Healthcare Systems
  • Mental Health & Therapy Practices
  • Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Firms
  • Food & Beverage Manufacturing
  • Senior Care & Assisted Living
  • Childcare & Early Education
  • Addiction Treatment Centers
  • Firearms & Ammunition
  • Alcohol & Spirits
  • Tobacco & Vaping
  • Cannabis & CBD
  • Real Estate
  • Franchising

You think your “special prompts” are better than the billion dollar companies that fell victim to the countless horror stories of AI completely wiping out company databases and customer files?

fix broken AI built websites

Then add in opportunity cost.  This one blows my mind the most.

You’re going back and forth asking AI what to do, for ideas to improve, and asking it to check itself if it’s really following best practices.

The amount of extremely talented people that have yet to realize they’ve given up their gifts to be handcuffed to the AI vibe coding hamster wheel is sad.

Yay. You can do everything now. All by yourself.  At what opportunity cost of YOU doing the stuff vs someone else so you can spend your time in your zone of genius?

Where you make more money. And, more importantly, are more happy.

Where’s the brag at to say you saved $5,000 paying someone because AI could do it faster and cheaper, when you later have to pay someone 10x that to fix everything that later realized in retrospect to have been broken.  And how much did that “savings” now cost them in repair and lost revenue in between the damages?

If you’re looking for an one-push easy button, just isn’t going to work.

You know how all year all your entrepreneur friends post how they’re crushing it. But then every January those same friends also post about how hard the last year was?  Get ready to see a lot of those posts in about a year, but all the time.

Posts where your friends eliminated every role, every contractor, every everything… “because AI!”  And they lost it all in the process.

Their relationships.

Their reputation.

Their income.

Their sanity.
