I don’t talk politics, religion, all that. Yet, yesterday, I interviewed a client about a very politically charged topic…
It’s not that I don’t have an opinion. But social media has groomed people to live in echo chambers. In just a decade, society has lost the art of respectful debate.
So debates have evolved more like to talking to a wall. An angry wall.
In interviewing this PhD and literal scholar, I wanted to afford them showcasing their expertise on a heated topic, while also facilitating a respectful de-politicizing of the topic, gifting listeners a way to hear an important subject with an open mind, from a human-to-human perspective, not as a political debate.
We all have strong opinions. Some of them are unnecessarily swayed by indoctrination from society, or even how we were raised.
But if we wipe the external influence away, we often see there are ways to meet our neighbors, brothers and sisters in the middle.
