This one thing may help you show up higher on search engines like Google, so you can get more traffic, which leads to more sales.  Let me explain…

Part of showing up higher on search engines is a popularity contest. Do other websites mention your brand or link to your website?  What I show you in this video, and documented in the post below, is a strategy to INSTANTLY boost your website’s credibility.

How? By recapturing broken links.

Watch the video to understand, then follow the instructions below to implement.

  • Create an account and login to Ahrefs.com.
  • Type in your website and ensure the “Subdomains” option is checked in the dropdown next to the domain.
  • After the results load, click on the “Broken backlinks” tab on the left menu.
  • Export the results to a CSV.

Check all of the links. What you’re looking for is to confirm that the links truly are:

❌ not live

❌ not redirected already

✅ broken

For broken links, you now want to check your site to see if the there’s already a new page that replaced the old broken page. Look for other pages with content that is similar to what the broken link was about, based on the URL name. For example, coca-cola.com/fanta was likely a page about Coke’s sister product Fanta.

Click through the site, or use the search function if the site has a search.  If you can’t find anything, try one more time using Google search by adding the domain after “site:” and then the keyword. Example:

site:coca-cola.com fanta

Your goal is to find the next closest content so we can redirect the broken link to a replacement URL so we recapture some of the link value.

Once all broken links are confirmed, map them to a replacement URL. If you can’t find a replacement page, we’ll want to at least redirect the broken link somewhere, like the home page.

Boom, regained backlinks, for free. A huge signal to boost your visibility on search engines.
