My wife had some personal things to go help out with so I was on double parent duty.
As she walked out the door, she asked if I could make French toast for our oldest and his friend that slept over. His friend wanted two and my son wanted one.
Made three, took them down and made sure if he really wanted only one.
“Yes.”
I had enough leftover to make two more so I brought those down to his friend. Of course, then my son asked for more.
Got that brief parent annoyance, but then I remembered this is what it’s all about… building the freedom to have total flexibility to be my kids little bitch. 😅
That mindset shift made it fun, so I went upstairs and made a whole bunch more.
Then my other son came home and he wanted some as well. This time I was all out of mix so I made a new batch.
My daughter wanted to get out of the house so we ran over to the office. She drew on the 75” Vibe board while I wrapped up a few loose ends on new things I’m adding before I start inviting people to teach them SEO at my new commercial building.
After hanging a few things, I stopped and went over with her and just colored.
We had fun drawing things, and also racing to see how long it took us to fully color the whole board with the stylus in pink.
On the way home the crew wanted Mexican food so we went to one of their favorite places that had a drive-through. Next to that was Dutch Brothers coffee and my oldest wanted a decaf was a fun little mini day with all my kids doing lots of random things.Once I got home, I did all the dishes before my wife got home just to help out because she had a pretty heavy day.
The day before when I got in the pool with my daughter, it was freezing cold. I noticed that there was an error on the pump so I had to figure that out.
Ended up being a jammed filter pump. After blowing it out with air and doing a few manual cranks with an allen wrench, and a breaker reset for a few minutes it was back to pumping and heating the pool. 🙏
Played two hand touch football in the basement towards the end of the night, where there were unlimited downs, and the end zones were never consistent.
There were half a dozen other random to do throughout the day and they were all tedious. Few months ago they would’ve been things that irritated me more than I appreciated.
But a few weeks ago, I realized that I’m now truly free and all of the capacities I had hoped for 20 years ago and starting entrepreneurship.
The financial side of things are great and I’ve acknowledge the comforts there for a while. However, letting go of the hustle and grind muscle memory takes a lot of intentional effort that I’ve been trying to be graceful with myself about while trying to integrate that freedom.
Think I did a pretty good job of that yesterday.
