Daughter just paid me $6.25 after she wanted to go to the dollar store. Because I teach them to pay for their own things they want.
Also teach them to be respectful. Do they actually have the money at home? And when they’re younger-young, I remind them as soon as we are home to pay it back.
Now they do it on their own. First thing in the door, without prompting, “I owe you $6.25, right, Dad?”
When they have to weigh the value of a purchase it teaches them the value of the dollar.
