It is possible to tell your kid no and politely stand your ground, while positively encouraging them.

I like to expose my kids to as many opportunities as they can, but require them to do none.

But they’re also held accountable to at least trrrrrrry the thing that they said they wanted to try long enough to see their real level of interest and not chase shiny objects.
