Marketers, watch what you outsource. It’s not worth your reputation.
In the last decade of running an agency, I haven’t outsourced anything. The first decade I did test scaling profits with convenience of outsourcing.
I had a period where I outsourced copywriting, and it failed miserably. How can a third party person truly get to know your client to the depths needed for the content they provide to perform a high-level? Especially if they’re a faceless person behind a keyboard that doesn’t even interact directly with the client?
I also tested outsourcing backlinks, and all I got was either links that, like content, where way off brand. But most the time it was low quality, automated garbage that took me more time and money to clean up and undo than it cost to have them do in the first place.
Bringing everything in house over a decade ago is when I went from varying six-figure years to consistent millions.
Your team, your company, your results, and your reputation are as good or as bad as the outcomes that you can control.
Own your process, and take pride in that ownership.
Convenience doesn’t build a reputation.
Results do.
