A detective is investigating someone that added themselves to a group text thread my kid was in.
Somehow a number added themselves, they asked who it was and how they got in. They said they were new at the school, talked about teachers, and tried to sound relevant.
Then they sent an inappropriate pic of two dudes.
My kid didn’t see it, because all the filtering. So he didn’t know it even happened. Fortunately, the other kids reported it.
Put filters on your kids phone, set time limits, set communication limits, and TALK TO THEM about what content is out there, catfishing, and fraud.
You know life before it, so you’ve learned it. They were born knowing no different, so you need to teach them.
Scarier it is to talk about it, probably more important that you do.
