I’m a self-made wifeionaire, married 19 years to one-in-a-million, and realized I haven’t introduced myself to the new followers over the years.
Father of three.
And also financially free.
Parents divorce when I was two, my mom remarried to an alcoholic, and I grew up with violence and chaos.
Started a car enthusiast website 20 years ago that blew up into several thousand active members. Wanting to learn how to improve and monetize that community took me into design and marketing.
Then in 2006 my wife asked me to watch the Bachelor season finale with her.
There was surprisingly little info about the guy. Realizing that I knew how to navigate search engines and couldn’t find much about him, just imagine how frustrating it would be for people that were actual fans and didn’t know search engines.
So… I optimized an experiment website about him and outranked the TV network ABC, a billion dollar company, for the Bachelor two years in a row.
Being into cars I also started a site about SEMA Show, one of the worlds largest car and aftermarket automotive events. I called it SEMA Gallery, and after outranking dozens of sites in another billion dollar industry, they sent me a cease and desist. 😅
Guess I was onto something…
With a bunch of success on hobby sites, I started doing design and marketing on the side, eventually taking a my first day job working in web design and worked remotely for them at home.
Years later, their owner got into some legal trouble and the company was raided and shut down by the Sheriff’s, ATF, and FTC.
Had three choices in that moment:
- Wait to see if I still had a job
- Find a new job
- Bet on myself
18 years later I now have a team of 40 and do SEO for cool people like Tony Robbins, Russell Brunson, Utah Jazz’s retail division, and wrote a best selling book on search engine optimization called “Outrank.”
But some of my favorites are taking mom and pops from backyard garages and kitchen table concepts to multi-million dollar exits.
And I’ve done it without any ads.
