Three years ago had a new client that ghosted us. Making it weirder, she paid for a year in advance.

From day one she was a bit inconsistent in her communication, but figured it was just her rhythm.  But about three months in the gaps between communication became wider and wider.

Eventually, she stopped replying entirely.  Even weirder, weirder, part of our deliverable was a new website. Without her approving the new site, we couldn’t load all the SEO content.

But, she paid for it so we logged all the pending structural updates we’d make, and wrote and banked all the copywriting in staging so we could push live once approved.

We emailed throughout the campaign. Approval never came.

Year went by, and her domain didn’t renew.  Everything was gone, and she was nowhere to be found.

We archived everything after her paid time was done, and sent the usual “thank you” email, and physical packages.

Still nothing… until a few months ago.

She blindly emailed me and our COO and apologized.

She was going through a divorce, and just couldn’t manage professionally or personally.  She said we deserved better, and thanked us for our graceful handling of the scenario despite her absence.  She vowed she’d build back up and couldn’t wait to pay us again some day.

Be graceful. Never know what someone has going on.
