The more success I find the less available I make myself outside, and the more available I make myself to myself and my wife and kids.

I’ve blocked off weekends forever.

Years ago I started blocking off mornings up until 9 am so I could be available for only my family in the mornings.

Same at end of the day when, can’t get on my calendar after 2:30 pm so I can be available after 3 pm when my kids get home from school.

I also block off anniversaries. Different types.

The day my wife’s dad and sister passed away so I can be available for her.

I block off the full week of me an my wife’s wedding anniversary so we’re always able to do something. Doesn’t mean we always do, but I’m guaranteed to not have to reschedule anything.

Same thing for all holidays.

The full week of Christmas through New Year.

First week of August, because my kids’ competition soccer team hosts a regional tournament. Guarantees I can see every game without having to reschedule any calls.

At some time between starting as an entrepreneur and finding success as one, you transition and do things differently than you think.

You work late and weekends and “grind now” so you don’t have to later.  But then the lines blur of when “later” is.

If you’re lucky and find success, “later” is often a lot sooner than you think.

  • You probably have enough flexibility.
  • You probably have enough stability.
  • You probably have enough.

Enough you can start giving yourself the rewards now that you set out to chase to begin with.

That’s the whole point in doing this all, right?  Freedom?

Maybe you have enough you can actually start to enjoy it.
